Class #613
Artemis BJJ (PHNX Fitness), Open Mat, Bristol, UK - 13/12/2014
With the injury I couldn't do much in the way of sparring, but I could at least work through some possibilities for classes next week. I wanted to have a follow-up to the techniques I taught previously, which was the scissor sweep, pressing armbar and sit-up sweep. I thought about the omoplata, as that could potentially work with the first two, or maybe the armbar, which could also work with the first two. A triangle might work with all three, but after playing around with a few options, I think I'll keep it specific and go with a reverse scissor sweep on Monday.
For Wednesday, I'm still undecided between the kimura (something I've taught before and it's straightforward off the sit-up sweep) or the high-elbow guillotine (which I haven't taught before and don't use as much). Practicing the guillotine, it felt like it was easier to hit if you sit up and scoot back, locking on the inside of their legs to create some control. However, I'm probably going to go with the kimura, just out of familiarity.
Still, I plan to play with the guillotine some more and work out the kinks in my application. Unfortunately that will be tricky with my present injury, so it might have to wait a while. Perhaps something for the Thursday class? Though I could also go with the scissor sweep for that, adding in the reverse scissor as a follow up? Possibilities.
